This is another unique Sapphire from the Queensland gemfields of Australia, and one of my personal favorites for its magnificent yellow color. It started out as a bi-color of yellow and blue, but nearly all the blue cut away. Just a tiny drop remains, but it's enough that it gives a green cast to the finished stone. This Sapphire is so bright that it even seems to glow in low light conditions.

I cut this in the design "Ruination", written by Arya Akhavan.

This Sapphire is loupe clean and would standout as a unique engagement ring.

Sapphire has been popular throughout history, and that trend doesn't seem to be changing. Sapphire is a mineral called corundum, and it doesn't only come in the well-known royal blue. Corundum can be an array of colours and shades, including white, and red corundum is Ruby. Sapphires and Rubies have a hardness of 9, making it the hardest coloured stone after diamond, and is well suited for daily wear.
