This Tourmaline is the perfect shade of seafoam green with perhaps a touch of mint to it. It's bright color is even throughout the stone and absolutely stunning. At 7.5mm, it's a great size for a ring or a flashy pendant.
I cut this Tourmaline in a design called "Defiance," written by Arya Akhavan. The 94 facets in this design result in beautiful light play.
This beauty has a small veil in the pavillion that is not noticeable in the hand. You may be able to see it in the magnified pictures above.
Tourmaline is a wonderful stone, and one of the most colorful, coming in a vast array of colors, and often sharing more than one color in a stone. Some are even dicrotic, meaning they are different colors depending which side you look through. Tourmaline is a 7-7.5 on the Mohs Hardness Scale, making it acceptable as a ring for everyday wear, but caution should be taken to preserve its beauty. It has the privilege of being marked as October's birthstone.
