This amazing Sapphire is truly one of a kind. It proudly boasts a distinct colour strip from tip to tip of orange and yellow within a clear body. As the stone moves, the colours dance about with almost a kaleidoscope effect. This is caused by an isolated orange dot within the bottom of an otherwise clear stone.
I cut this Sapphire in a beautiful pear design called ‘Cedar’, by Marco Voltolini. It is a hybrid design that combines a brilliant pear pavilion and a checker crown.
This Sapphire is clean throughout and heat-treated to improve its clarity and unlock its inner beauty.
Sapphire has been popular throughout history, and that trend doesn't seem to be changing. Sapphire is a mineral called corundum, and it doesn't only come in the well-known royal blue. Corundum can be an array of colours and shades, including white, and red corundum is Ruby. Sapphires and Rubies have a hardness of 9, making it the hardest coloured stone after diamond, and is well suited for daily wear.
