This beautiful Moonstone comes from East Africa, not the actual moon, but it's named for the glowing blue sheen across its surface that resembles moonlight. This phenomenon is called adularescence.
I faceted the moonstone, and am glad I did, the large table is perfect for displaying the blue sheen. I chose the design “Omni-Oval” written by Robert Strickland.
This stone doesn't have any inclusions but as with a large portion of Moonstones it is opaque, making the stone look sleepy. I personally prefer this over the clear Moonstones as it adds to its glowing appearance.
Care should be taken with moonstone as it is a slightly softer stone at 6-6.5 on the Mohs Hardness Scale, and would be best suited for a necklace though a ring is possible.
