This stunning yellow Sapphire, seated in a halo of diamonds on a 14k white gold band, is sure to add sparkle to her special day. This Montana Sapphire is actually clear, getting its bright colour from its central core. The light scatters as it enters, turning the entire stone a beautiful canary yellow.
I cut this Sapphire in a Classic Round Brilliant, a design to complement its elegance.
We purchased the rough stone directly from the local Montana miner. He ensures his employees use environmentally conscious practices with minimal impact to Montana's rugged beauty. The Sapphires are dug from alluvial gravel deposits along the riverbeds, and a lot of effort is put in to restore the land to its natural state when finished.
Sapphire has been popular throughout history, and that trend doesn't seem to be changing. Sapphire is a mineral called corundum, and it doesn't only come in the well-known royal blue. Corundum can be an array of colours and shades, including white, and red corundum is Ruby. Sapphires and Rubies have a hardness of 9, making it the hardest coloured stone after diamond, and is well suited for daily wear.
