This Sapphire is a gorgeous, sleepy blue! The inclusion in the center is a beautiful dark blue with lighter tones flashing on the edges. I just love the complexity of such natural gemstones!
We cut this gemstone in one of our most popular designs, my own 'Stormlight.'
This Sapphire is included, which gives it that wonderfully silky or sleepy look. It has been heated with a standard heat treatment to bring out it's beautiful blue.
Sapphire has been popular throughout history, and that trend doesn't seem to be changing. Sapphire is a mineral called corundum, and it doesn't only come in the well-known royal blue. Corundum comes in an array of colours and shades, including white. The popular Ruby also belongs to this family as a red corundum. Sapphires and Rubies have a hardness of 9, making it the hardest coloured stone, and is well suited for daily wear. Sapphire also happens to be the traditional birthstone for those born in September.
