This pretty Spinel is a light, but well saturated pink, the color of cotton candy!
I cut this stone in a design called "Ruination," written by Arya Akhavan.
This soft pink Spinel has some minor inclusions that are difficult to see at a regular viewing distance and some silk within that gives it its wonderful glow.
Spinel has a history of being mistaken for Sapphires and Rubies. We now know that Spinel sits at an 8 on the Mohs scale, just behind Sapphire, but its fire is just as impressive. In recent years it has attracted more attention as an alternative to Sapphires and Rubies, for both price and appearance.
